Joyce Manor, PUP and Pool Kids at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco

Joyce Manor is tearing up the road in North America along with PUP and Pool Kids for what is no doubt the hottest spring tour. So hot, in fact, that they managed to pack San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom on two consecutive nights! Indeed, both Joyce Manor and PUP seem to be experience a bit of a resurgence in interest after their killer 2022 releases!

The general admission floor was absolutely packed by the time Joyce Manor took the stage around 9:20 pm. And by the looks of the mostly empty balcony, the crowd didn’t show up to sit around. In fact when the band took the stage and aptly launched right into “Heart Tattoo” off of Never Hungover Again, the general admission floor surged as the fans sang along.

The setlist included a smattering of new material off of 40 oz. to Fresno but Joyce Manor wasn’t planning on leaving out the fan favorites … in fact, after playing “Gotta Let It Go” early in the night, vocalist Barry Johnson quickly pivoted to the old stuff with “Beach Community” off their 2021 self-titled debut.

Frankly, it didn’t seem like the crowd really cared which album the next song was from and with an absolutely packed floor, any attempt at a dance merely resulted in a snarled surge that never quite took a circular form but apparently still left enough oxygen up front for people to sing along. That singing may have gotten a bit more challenging when Barry hopped off the stage onto the barricade for an epic singalong with the first few rows. Given the number of phones in the air (as well as what appeared to be a Nintendo Gameboy), there will be plenty of video of that moment!

With only an hour to work the room, Joyce Manor impressively plowed through a whopping twenty-two songs leaving the crowd a hot sweaty mess!
